{"id":590062,"date":"2026-04-08T10:49:08","date_gmt":"2026-04-08T10:49:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/590062\/"},"modified":"2026-04-08T10:49:08","modified_gmt":"2026-04-08T10:49:08","slug":"plan-for-480m-development-in-angus-with-hotel-and-golf-academy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/590062\/","title":{"rendered":"Plan for \u00a3480m development in Angus with hotel and golf academy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A \u00a3480m development with a five-star hotel and 185 housing plots has been proposed for an area of farmland in Angus.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">An existing 18-hole championship golf course at the Shank of Omachie site, near Wellbank, would be retained.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Under the plans, a golf academy and a country club with a gym, padel courts and swimming pools would be built.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Initial proposals for the Brae of Angus development have been submitted to Angus Council.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Angus Land Company Ltd (ALC) purchased the site which is now owned by a private investment company, Mocca Capital.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">International hotel chain Hyatt would operate the hotel.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">ALC said there would be a commitment to recruit and train a local workforce.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">It also said two public consultation events would be held before planning permission was sought.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The meetings are to take place in Wellbank Village Hall on 27 April and 3 June.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">ALC said the plan was to create a &#8220;world-class destination&#8221; on the site, which is west of Carnoustie.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Sales of the housing plots would be reinvested in the project.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A spokesperson said: &#8220;The development represents one of the most significant hospitality investments in Scotland in recent years, with a projected investment of approximately \u00a3480m while delivering considerable local employment opportunities in both its construction and operations on completion.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A \u00a3480m development with a five-star hotel and 185 housing plots has been proposed for an area of&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":590063,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[443],"tags":[224759,49,48,4113,622,224758,82,224757],"class_list":["post-590062","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-golf","tag-angus-council","tag-ca","tag-canada","tag-development","tag-golf","tag-golf-academy","tag-sports","tag-wellbank"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/590062","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=590062"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/590062\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/590063"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=590062"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=590062"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=590062"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
