A bus driver has been charged following a crash and rollover that injured several people in February.<\/p>\n
The incident on Highway 401 near Napanee in eastern Ontario saw eight people taken to hospital when the commercial coach bus drove into a ditch and flipped onto its side while travelling eastbound.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe bus was carrying 47 passengers along with the driver at the time of the incident,\u201d according to the OPP. \u201cIndividuals suffered non-life-threatening injuries, including lacerations, broken bones and dislocations. Injured passengers were transported to two local hospitals for medical treatment.\u201d<\/p>\n
Highway 401 eastbound was closed for approximately four hours in the area to allow for emergency response and the transportation of the injured to the hospital.<\/p>\n
As a result of the investigation, a 42-year-old from Brampton was charged with careless driving, ten counts of careless driving causing bodily harm, and making an unsafe move.<\/p>\n
Police have decided not to release the identity of the person charged.<\/p>\n
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on May 1.<\/p>\n
