The Boston Celtics<\/a> could reportedly emerge as an unlikely team to monitor if the Milwaukee Bucks explore a Giannis Antetokounmpo trade.<\/p>\n

Boston is “known to be interested” in\u00a0Antetokounmpo, according to The Athletic’s Sam Amick<\/a>. People around the league are reportedly discussing the Celtics as a potential landing spot for the two-time MVP.<\/p>\n

Of course, other teams would pursue\u00a0Antetokounmpo if the Bucks make him available. Amick noted that the Miami Heat, Golden State Warriors, Minnesota Timberwolves and New York Knicks all examined a potential deal before the deadline and could “certainly” try again, barring a successful postseason run.<\/p>\n

Amick also floated the Orlando Magic, Atlanta Hawks, Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Lakers as possible trade candidates.<\/p>\n

The Celtics seem like a curious fit with Jaylen Brown and a returning Jayson Tatum already forming one of the league’s most dangerous duos. Boston already brandishes the star power and depth to enter the postseason as a potent threat in the Eastern Conference.<\/p>\n

Yet it’s not often an opening arises to acquire an All-NBA superstar. With the Bucks eliminated from the playoffs and ESPN’s Shams Charania<\/a> diving into\u00a0Antetokounmpo’s deteriorating relationship with the organization, trade speculation will likely resurface this offseason.<\/p>\n

Antetokounmpo stoked those flames by praising<\/a> Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla for leading a team that withstood Tatum’s absence for most of the 2025-26 season. Meanwhile, the Bucks are 14-29 without their 10-time All-Star.<\/p>\n

“Everything about my decision is based on winning; culture,” Antetokounmpo told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel’s Lori Nickel. “Like you saw I talked with coach Joe Mazzulla. I said, ‘You had so many opportunities to make excuses, but you didn\u2019t.’ And he said, ‘Oh, they\u2019re good players.’ I said, no. It\u2019s about the mentality that you instilled in your place.”<\/p>\n
