{"id":591165,"date":"2026-04-08T22:33:11","date_gmt":"2026-04-08T22:33:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/591165\/"},"modified":"2026-04-08T22:33:11","modified_gmt":"2026-04-08T22:33:11","slug":"potential-measles-exposure-at-rockyview-hospital-public-alert-issued-highriveronline-com","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/591165\/","title":{"rendered":"Potential measles exposure at Rockyview Hospital, public alert issued &#8211; HighRiverOnline.com"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On April 7, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alberta.ca\/release.cfm?xID=95971255D0C89-9530-C371-6E60278529E5C3E9\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">public alert <\/a>was issued for potential measles exposure at a southern Calgary hospital.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The exposure was at\u00a0Rockyview\u00a0General Hospital, at 7007 14 St S.W., on April 4 between 10:27 a.m. and 6:17 p.m.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Government of Alberta warns anyone who attended the location\u00a0during\u00a0the outlined times, who was born in or after 1970 and has fewer than two documented\u00a0doses\u00a0of measles-containing vaccine or has never had measles\u00a0disease,\u00a0may be at risk of developing measles.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Related Stories:<\/p>\n<p>Those at risk should\u00a0monitor for\u00a0symptoms of measles and are strongly encouraged to review their immunization records.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Symptoms include:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\t&#13;<\/p>\n<p>A rash that appears 3 to 7 days after fever starts, usually beginning behind the ears and on the face and spreading down to the body and then to the arms and legs. The rash appears red and blotchy on lighter skin\u00a0colours. On darker skin\u00a0colours, it can appear purple or darker than the skin around it, or it might be hard to see.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\t&#13;<\/p>\n<p>The public alert warns\u00a0that measles is\u00a0extremely contagious and the virus spreads easily through air.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>If symptoms do develop,\u00a0individuals\u00a0are advised to stay home and call the measles hotline at 1-844-944-3434 before visiting any healthcare facility or provider, including a family physician clinic or pharmacy.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Check your\u00a0immunization\u00a0history\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Albertans uncertain of their, or their child\u2019s immunization history, can check eligibility and\/or book an appointment by calling the measles hotline at\u00a01-844-944-3434.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Individuals who are 14 years of age and older can also check their immunization history using\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/myhealth.alberta.ca\/account\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">My Health Record<\/a>.
