Lynchburg, Va. — The University of Lynchburg men’s and women’s tennis teams took a cross-town trip to Randolph for the teams’ Code Red matches on Wednesday afternoon. The women’s crew edged out the win, 4-3, while the men’s team dropped the contest, 6-1.<\/p>\n
The women’s match began with Lynchburg taking two of three doubles contests. Ashley Hair<\/a> and Giovana Gaboardi<\/a> secured a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles, while Megan Tinsley<\/a> and Harper Dodd<\/a> earned a 7-6 (7-4) victory at No. 3. Randolph claimed the No. 1 doubles match 6-4, but Lynchburg carried a 2-1 advantage into singles play.<\/p>\n In singles, Lynchburg secured three wins to clinch the match. Ashley Hair<\/a> posted a 7-5, 6-4 victory at No. 3 singles, and Giovana Gaboardi<\/a> followed with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 4. Maggie Wonderling<\/a> added a 6-4, 6-2 decision at No. 6. Randolph picked up wins at No. 1 singles in three sets and at No. 5, while the No. 2 match ended in a win by opponent retirement for Randolph.<\/p>\n In the men’s match, Randolph swept doubles play. Ricards Spaks<\/a> and Nicholas Pierreux<\/a> fell 7-6 at No. 1 doubles, Alexandre Gaboardi<\/a> and Daniel Gomes<\/a> dropped a 6-4 decision at No. 2, and Dan Hardy<\/a> and Patricio Zepeda were defeated 6-3 at No. 3.<\/p>\n Ricards Spaks<\/a> earned Lynchburg’s lone point with a 6-4, 6-3 victory at No. 1 singles.
