Tommy Fury has offered his take on the ongoing feud between his brother Tyson and father John.<\/p>\n

Ahead of Tyson<\/a>\u2019s return to the ring, with the heavyweight set to face Russia\u2019s Arslanbek Makhmudov after a 16-month hiatus, much of the media\u2019s focus has been on his ongoing feud with his father rather than the Gypsy King\u2019s 39th professional bout.<\/p>\n

In March, John<\/a> made it clear that he believes Tyson has no business returning from retirement and claimed that the pair\u2019s relationship has been \u201ccompletely destroyed\u201d<\/a>, while also suggesting that his son is \u201cpast his best\u201d.<\/p>\n

Tyson has not fought since sustaining a second successive defeat against Oleksandr Usyk in Saudi Arabia in December 2024.<\/p>\n

The 37-year-old has not won a fight since defeating Francis Ngannou by split decision back in October 2023, with many suggesting that he lost the bout after being knocked down in round three by the former UFC<\/a> heavyweight champion.<\/p>\n

Last month, John told Playbook Boxing<\/a>: \u201cI don’t want Tyson’s money and I don’t need Tyson’s money. Whatever he’s got, good luck to him. But don\u2019t forget who built his story when he was a kid. He didn\u2019t build it himself, did he? Me, his father.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think he’s past his best.<\/p>\n

\u201cI’m a no-filter kind of guy \u2013 I say it how I see it. I love him, but there are too many people patting him on the back and telling him things that aren’t true, building him up like he’s invincible. He’s not, and he hasn\u2019t been for a while.<\/p>\n

\u201cTyson has been gone since the Deontay Wilder fights; they finished him. Wilder completely did him. He’s not got a leg underneath him. He’s taken a lot away from Tyson. Makhmudov is a problem for Tyson. I am the first one to say it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tyson has already suggested that his father \u201cwants the best\u201d for him, admitting that he has been urged to \u201cwalk away\u201d from boxing.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Sky Sports<\/a> on Wednesday (8 April), the 37-year-old revealed: \u201cMy dad wants the best for his son; he wanted me to retire six years ago after [Deontay] Wilder II. Maybe I should have done, maybe I shouldn’t have done.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut at the end of the day, that concern\u2019s coming from a father \u2014 someone\u2019s family, someone\u2019s blood. For him, there\u2019s no financial gain from me fighting; it doesn\u2019t matter. But for me, it\u2019s everything. It\u2019s everything that I\u2019ve always done, it\u2019s everything that I love to do and it\u2019s something that I\u2019ll continue to do until I\u2019ve done what I\u2019ve wanted to do.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now, Tyson\u2019s brother Tommy, who is currently preparing for a fight against former World\u2019s Strongest Man Eddie Hall, has waded in with his thoughts and appeared to side with his father.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think if you asked anyone of his family do we want to see him keeping boxing the answer would have been an all-round \u2018no\u2019,\u201d he told Bloody Elbow<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s all the way around the board because we care about his health.<\/p>\n

\u201cObviously you guys are fight fans you love to see him in the ring because he brings that entertainment. But we think of his health and everything like that so listen, he\u2019s decided to keep fighting, it\u2019s Tyson who is a fighting man who loves to do so.<\/p>\n
