At 35 metres deep\u2014the equivalent of six stories\u2014the YUL-A\u00e9roport-Montr\u00e9al-Trudeau station will serve millions of passengers.<\/p>\n
With the L\u2019Anse-\u00e0-l\u2019Orme branch set to debut this spring, and the Deux-Montagnes and South Shore sections already in operation\u2014last but not least\u2014the airport R\u00e9seau express m\u00e9tropolitain (REM) segment will be the last to open on Montreal Island.<\/p>\n

With just a year to go before its official opening, the REM station at Montr\u00e9al-Trudeau Airport is now nearly 85% complete and expected to open by the end of 2027.<\/p>\n

The REM will provide fast and direct service to Montr\u00e9al-Trudeau Airport, and will take about 25 minutes to get to Downtown Montreal.<\/p>\n

According to a report by La Presse, once the REM is operational, one in five passengers is expected to use it, which amounts to more than 4 million people annually based on the airport\u2019s current traffic of 22 million travellers.<\/p>\n
Launched in 2022, the project faces unique challenges, being built beneath the airport and its multi-level parking structure, now closed and set for demolition.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The report goes on to detail that a total of 312,000 tonnes of rock were removed during excavation and repurposed for other major regional projects\u2014and that the $600-million project remains on budget.<\/p>\n
On the east platform, trains will arrive from Avenue Marie-Curie, letting passengers disembark before taking an elevator to departures.\u00a0<\/p>\n
On the west side, arriving travellers will access the platforms via the airport terminal, currently through the taxi gates.\u00a0<\/p>\n
