According to <a href=\"http:\/\/golfweek.usatoday.com\/story\/sports\/golf\/majors\/masters\/2026\/04\/08\/masters-phone-policy-sends-mark-calcavecchia-out-of-augusta-national\/89521248007\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Golfweek<\/a>, security removed the 1989 British Open champion from the premises on Wednesday for using his phone.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-4\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"7g\">No hard feelings, though.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-5\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"7j\">\u201cI\u2019ve got nothing negative to say about Augusta National Golf Club and the Masters, so I think we should literally hang up right now,\u201d\u00a0 Calcavecchia told Golfweek regarding the incident.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-6\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"7m\">The club\u2019s policy strictly prohibits cell phones, tablets and laptops to maintain a traditional atmosphere.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-7\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"7p\">Calcavecchia, 65, is a 13-time PGA Tour winner who has played in 18 Masters, finishing runner-up to Sandy Lyle in 1988.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-8\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"7s\">But that meant nothing to security\u2014or Augusta National\u2019s overlords\u2014this week. <\/p>\n<p>More Masters Coverage from Sports Illustrated<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Nobody gets a pass at Augusta National Golf Club.
