Surrey hosting 2 free \u2018bird walks\u2019 this Saturday<\/p>\n

The City of Surrey is hosting free-of-charge \u201cbird walks\u201d this Saturday for people who want to \u201cdiscover migrating and resident birds and the diverse habitats that support them.\u201d<\/p>\n
Those interested will meet at Blackie Spit Park at 3136 McBride Avenue, at the kiosk at the north end of the gravel parking lot, with two April 11 sessions set for 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. (ages 13 and older) and 11 a.m. to noon (all ages).<\/p>\n
It\u2019s billed as helping participants improve their bird-identification skills and offers tips on how to help protect wildlife. They\u2019ll also learn how to use an online data collection tool called iNaturalist<\/a>.<\/p>\n Participants are asked to dress for the weather, leave their dog\/s at home and bring binoculars (or borrow a pair there).<\/p>\n
