{"id":594653,"date":"2026-04-10T11:25:07","date_gmt":"2026-04-10T11:25:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/594653\/"},"modified":"2026-04-10T11:25:07","modified_gmt":"2026-04-10T11:25:07","slug":"f1-news-lambiase-exit-26-rules-wont-push-max-out-of-f1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/594653\/","title":{"rendered":"F1 News: Lambiase exit, &#8217;26 rules, won&#8217;t push Max out of F1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>(GMM) Jos Verstappen (pictured with son Max) does not think the impending departure of Gianpiero Lambiase will trigger Max Verstappen\u2019s exit from Formula 1 \u2013 and even expects his son to stay despite ongoing frustration with the 2026 rules.<\/p>\n<p>Reacting for the first time to the confirmed move to McLaren, the Dutchman made clear the Verstappen camp had long been aware of the situation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe knew it for a while, and we also knew when it was going to happen,\u201d he said at the <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/UYD2KRNyvCQ?si=rRsLrmpLqARbtC0R\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">TAC Rally<\/a> shakedown.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe still have one and a half to two years to work with him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rather than opposing the move, Verstappen senior says Red Bull\u2019s long-time race engineer is right to take the opportunity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a huge opportunity for him,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe understand, and we\u2019ve also said he has to do this. He has to take this opportunity with two hands.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s up to Red Bull to replace him now. We are going to see it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite Max Verstappen\u2019s previously stated desire to only work with Lambiase, Jos played down any suggestion this could accelerate a shock retirement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA lot of things have changed. It looks like Formula 1 and FIA are going to change the regulations anyway,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat they can do this year will already help. Also for the fans and the drivers. I think they know what to do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Like many in the paddock, however, Jos is highly critical of the current formula.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a driver, I don\u2019t like it as much.
