Valerie Perrine\u2019s cause of death<\/a> was listed as acute cardiopulmonary arrest with the underlying cause of\u00a0Parkinson\u2019s disease, according to a report.<\/p>\n

Also known as sudden cardiac arrest, the condition was confirmed on her death certificate, which was obtained by People<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Dementia was also a contributing factor in the\u00a0\u201cSuperman\u201d actress\u2019 death,<\/a> according to the Los Angeles Department of Health, People reported.<\/p>\n

Perrine, who died on March 23 at 82, was diagnosed with Parkinson\u2019s in 2015.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is with deep sadness that I share the heartbreaking news that Valerie has passed away,\u201d her longtime friend, Stacey Souther, shared on\u00a0social media<\/a>\u00a0at the time.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe faced Parkinson\u2019s disease with incredible courage and compassion, never once complaining. She was a true inspiration who lived life to the fullest \u2014 and what a magnificent life it was.\u201d<\/p>\n

Souther added, \u201cThe world feels less beautiful without her in it. I love you, Valerie. I\u2019ll see you on the other side.\u201d<\/p>\n

Perrine was known for her roles in 1974\u2019s \u201cLenny,\u201d a biopic about Lenny Bruce, for which she received an Academy Award nomination, and 1978\u2019s \u201cSuperman,\u201d in which she played Lex Luthor\u2019s girlfriend.<\/p>\n

After playing the same role in 1980\u2019s \u201cSuperman II,\u201d she turned to\u00a0TV opposite Harvey Korman\u00a0in \u201cLeo & Liz in Beverly Hills.\u201d<\/p>\n

She later did two episodes of \u201cER\u201d and three episodes of \u201cNash Bridges,\u201d had an eight-episode arc on \u201cAs the World Turns\u201d and had a role in 2000\u2019s \u201cWhat Women Want,\u201d among dozens of other parts.<\/p>\n
