Coldplay<\/a> introduced itself to the world with its debut album Parachutes, which arrived in summer 2000. The set produced several hit singles, including \u201cShiver,\u201d \u201cYellow,\u201d \u201cTrouble,\u201d and \u201cDon\u2019t Panic,\u201d<\/a> but these days, fans are consuming the title thanks largely to one album cut. A perfect storm of virality and social media attention is helping that track not only become a hit, but rise higher and higher each week on the Billboard charts.<\/p>\n

\u201cSparks\u201d Scores New Chart Highs<\/p>\n

\u201cSparks\u201d<\/a> began to attract a new audience months ago, and since then, it\u2019s become a fixture on charts in both the United Kingdom and the U.S. In America, \u201cSparks\u201d appears on eight Billboard rankings, and this frame it earns new high points on half of them.<\/p>\n

The track performs best on the Hot Alternative Songs chart, lifting one space to No. 8, fittingly, in its eighth frame on the tally. It also advances one spot to No. 79 on the Hot 100 and reaches newly-certified peaks on both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S., improving to Nos. 87 and 119, respectively.<\/p>\n

Climbing Across Rock and Alternative Charts<\/p>\n

The same Coldplay cut climbs on two other genre-focused rosters this week. \u201cSparks\u201d inches up one rung to No. 11 on the Hot Rock Songs chart and also steps up one space to No. 13 on Hot Alternative Songs tally. Those marks are just shy of its career highs, as it has managed to soar higher before.<\/p>\n

\u201cSparks\u201d Helps Parachutes Soar<\/p>\n

Thanks to the ongoing success of \u201cSparks,\u201d Parachutes is once again a win on several charts in America. At the moment, it\u2019s sliding on the Top Alternative Albums, Top Rock & Alternative Albums lists and the Billboard 200, dipping to Nos. 19, 41, and 156, respectively. The project may be on the decline, but the fact that it\u2019s still on all three lists so many years after its release shows just how much the single is driving attention to the band\u2019s first full-length.<\/p>\n

Coldplay Claims Multiple Hits in America<\/p>\n

Coldplay fills half a dozen spaces on Billboard\u2019s global rankings, but in the U.S., the group only manages more than one hit on the Alternative Streaming Songs chart. As \u201cSparks\u201d falls to No. 10 there, \u201cYellow\u201d and \u201cViva La Vida\u201d<\/a> both decline to Nos. 13 and 25. Those are the only other placements for the Grammy-winning outfit in America specifically.<\/p>\n

When Parachutes first arrived 25 years ago, it introduced the world to Coldplay\u2019s signature blend of atmospheric rock and introspective songwriting.
