They are marketed online and on social media as \u201canti-aging\u201d products and for weight loss, bodybuilding, athletic performance, injury recovery, sleep, mental focus, or general \u201cwellness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn Canada, peptides are generally regulated as prescription drugs. Authorized peptide drugs should only be used under the care of a licensed healthcare professional, such as a doctor, to treat specific conditions,\u201d Health Canada said.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"170\" height=\"225\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/healthiq.jpg\" alt=\"Receive the latest medical news and health information delivered to you every Sunday.\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\tGet weekly health news<\/p>\n<p>Receive the latest medical news and health information delivered to you every Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Using unauthorized peptide drugs can cause serious health risks, including, but not limited to, hormonal imbalance, mood swings, blood sugar imbalance, liver or kidney damage, blood clots, and growth of cancerous tumours, the agency said.<\/p>\n<p>Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n<p>They could also lead to infections, allergic reactions, and other serious complications interact with other medications or health products you may be taking.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\tMore on Health<br \/>\n\t\t\tMore videos\n\t\t<\/p>\n<p>There are \u201cmany other unauthorized peptide drugs\u201d available online that \u201cshould be avoided,\u201d Health Canada said, giving these examples:<\/p>\n<p>BPC-157CJC-1295DSIPEpitalonGHK-CuHCGIpamorelinKPVMelanotan I and IIMOTS-CNAD+SS-31TB-500Retatrutide<\/p>\n<p>Many of these products have not demonstrated, through scientific trials, to provide the health benefits they claim.<\/p>\n<p>If you have used an unauthorized injectable peptide drug and you feel unwell or have concerns, contact your family doctor or a healthcare professional such as a physician, nurse practitioner or a pharmacist, Health Canada said.<\/p>\n<p>You should also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/health-canada\/services\/safe-disposal-prescription-drugs.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">safely dispose<\/a> of the drugs or take them to your local pharmacy for safe disposal, the agency said.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t&amp;copy 2026 Global News, a division of Corus Entertainment Inc.\t<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Did you buy injectable peptides online?
