By declaring a regional state of emergency, the province can coordinate the activities of all provincial and municipal services in the area and engage personnel as required.<\/p>\n<p>While this is NOT a full regional evacuation, all impacted residents are asked to be prepared to evacuate their community on short notice.<\/p>\n<p>Be Prepared<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.nl.ca\/beprepared\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Residents need to take steps to ensure their own personal safety<\/a>. Be prepared for at least 72 hours, with a basic emergency kit, including items such as food, water, batteries, a portable radio, important documents and prescription medications.<\/p>\n<p>Mental Health<br \/>If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis, need support, or are looking for health information, call 811.<\/p>\n<p>If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 immediately.<\/p>\n<p>Protect Your Property<br \/>Protect your own home, neighborhood, and community from the threat of wildfire. Create a defensible space around your property. To learn more, visit <a href=\"https:\/\/firesmartcanada.ca\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">FireSmart Canada<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Current Evacuation Orders<\/p>\n<p>Town of Small Point\u2013Adam\u2019s Cove\u2013Blackhead\u2013Broad Cove<br \/>\nTown of Salmon Cove<br \/>\nUnincorporated area of Western Bay<br \/>\nUnincorporated area of Kingston<br \/>\nUnincorporated area of Perry\u2019s Cove<br \/>\nUnincorporated area of Ochre Pit Cove<br \/>\nUnincorporated area of Burnt Point-Gull Island-Northern Bay<\/p>\n<p>Current Evacuation Advisory<br \/>Cabin owners in the Martin Lake, Great Rattling Brook and Rushy Pond areas off Route 360 (Bay d\u2019Espoir Highway), including all cabins from Rushy Pond to Rifle Lake (approximately 45 kilometres from the Trans-Canada Highway).<\/p>\n<p>Current Evacuation Alert<br \/>An evacuation alert\u00a0is in effect for the Town of Victoria.<\/p>\n<p>Wildfire Information<\/p>\n<p>Small Point\u2013Adam\u2019s Cove\u2013Blackhead\u2013Broad Cove, Kingston, Western Bay, Perry\u2019s Cove, Salmon Cove, Ochre Pit Cove, Burnt Point-Gull Island-Northern Bay<\/p>\n<p>Another challenging day is anticipated for wildfire suppression teams.<br \/>\nThe fire remains out of control.<br \/>\nWindy conditions, combined with an Extreme Fire Weather Index, are expected to contribute\u00a0to extreme fire behaviour and growth again today.<br \/>\nWeather remains extremely volatile with 30 km\/hr southwest winds and forecasted gusts of 50 km\/hr.<br \/>\nLatest boundary mapping indicates the fire has grown to just over 4,895 hectares, mostly along the northern boundary at the edge of Western Bay. The fire is anticipated to move towards Ochre Pit Cove by Sunday evening.<br \/>\nFour water bombers, and four helicopters are focusing on the northern edge of the fire.<br \/>\nGround crews and heavy equipment will continue work on fuel breaks on the southern edge of the fire.<br \/>\nA 20-person crew from Ontario and additional air support from Quebec arrived to assist yesterday.<br \/>\nCoast Guard helicopters are assisting to enhance operational capacity.<\/p>\n<p>Martin Lake, Great Rattling Brook and Rushy Pond areas off Route 360 (Bay d\u2019Espoir Highway), including all cabins from Rushy Pond to Rifle Lake<\/p>\n<p>Suppression crews continue to hold Martin Lake.<br \/>\nTwo waterbombers and a bird dog aircraft will provide aerial support with ground crews today. Crews are focusing on the southwestern edge and cabin areas.<br \/>\nNo impact on Route 360 this morning. Officials continue to closely monitor the status of the highway.<\/p>\n<p>Section of Holyrood and section of Conception Bay South (Evacuation Order lifted)<\/p>\n<p>The Holyrood fire remains at 22 hectares with no growth reported. The fire is classified as Being Held, with minimal fire behavior observed and the fire fully contained with hose lines. Crews continue to work on the fire.<br \/>\nResidents are asked to look out for fire crews and proceed with caution on roads and around properties.<\/p>\n<p>Labrador<\/p>\n<p>The fire reported August 9 on the Grand Lake forest access road system north of Happy Valley-Goose Bay reported has been declared out.<br \/>\nCrews are assessing another wildfire reported 19 km due south of Happy Valley-Goose Bay, east of the trans-Labrador Highway. Helicopters and ground crew are responding.<br \/>\nBoth fires appear to be caused by lightning.<\/p>\n<p>Reception Centre information<br \/>Canadian Red Cross and Salvation Army have coordinated a reception centre in Carbonear at Carbonear Academy, 88 Valley Road.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to an overnight shelter, the reception centre provides three meals a day, showers, as well as other support services to all impacted residents. Regardless if you are using the reception centre for overnight shelter, all impacted residents are welcome.<\/p>\n<p>All impacted residents are reminded; they MUST\u00a0register:<\/p>\n<p>In person\u00a0at Carbonear Academy, 88 Valley Road<br \/>\nOr by phone 709-729-0921<\/p>\n<p>The reception centre located at Villanova Junior High closed on Saturday, August 9, due to the lifting of the Holyrood evacuation order.<\/p>\n<p>Accommodations<br \/>While emergency officials, Canadian Red Cross and Salvation Army are working diligently to assist impacted residents, accommodations are limited on the Avalon Peninsula. As a result, some accommodations facilitated by the Canadian Red Cross will be modified. Priority will be given to seniors and persons with disabilities.<\/p>\n<p>If your accommodation is impacted, Canadian Red Cross will contact you directly. For more information, call 709-729-0921.<\/p>\n<p>The Provincial Government thanks organizations and community partners assisting residents who are displaced as a result of the wildfire.<\/p>\n<p>If residents take shelter elsewhere, you are still required to register.<\/p>\n<p>Financial Support<br \/>Calls to the Provincial Emergency Operations Centre (709-729-0921) regarding financial assistance are hindering wildfire response to impacted residents and communities.
