{"id":596196,"date":"2026-04-11T03:38:10","date_gmt":"2026-04-11T03:38:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/596196\/"},"modified":"2026-04-11T03:38:10","modified_gmt":"2026-04-11T03:38:10","slug":"mets-clay-holmes-exits-vs-as-due-to-hamstring-tightness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/596196\/","title":{"rendered":"Mets&#8217; Clay Holmes exits vs. A&#8217;s due to hamstring tightness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Apr 10, 2026, 09:12 PM ET<\/p>\n<p>NEW YORK &#8212; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/32827\/clay-holmes\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Clay Holmes<\/a> left his start for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/team\/_\/name\/nym\/new-york-mets\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">New York Mets<\/a> against the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/team\/_\/name\/ath\/athletics\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Athletics<\/a> with one out in the sixth inning on Friday night because of left hamstring tightness.<\/p>\n<p>With the Mets trailing 1-0, New York manager Carlos Mendoza and an athletic trainer went to the mound after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/33742\/jacob-wilson\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jacob Wilson<\/a>&#8216;s single. Holmes left with the trainer and was replaced by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/39716\/tobias-myers\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tobias Myers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Holmes allowed one run and five hits with three strikeouts and three walks in the Mets&#8217; 4-0 loss. The 33-year-old right-hander entered with a 2-0 record and has a 1.50 ERA in three starts.<\/p>\n<p>A former <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/team\/_\/name\/nyy\/new-york-yankees\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">New York Yankees<\/a> closer, Holmes agreed to a $38 million, three-year contract with the Mets as a free agent in December 2024.
