{"id":596894,"date":"2026-04-11T11:28:08","date_gmt":"2026-04-11T11:28:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/596894\/"},"modified":"2026-04-11T11:28:08","modified_gmt":"2026-04-11T11:28:08","slug":"free-the-queen-of-my-dreams-screening-in-surrey-on-national-canadian-film-day-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/596894\/","title":{"rendered":"Free \u2018The Queen of My Dreams\u2019 screening in Surrey on National Canadian Film Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>              Free \u2018The Queen of My Dreams\u2019 screening in Surrey on National Canadian Film Day<\/p>\n<p class=\"pubStamp\">Published 9:00 pm Friday, April 10, 2026<\/p>\n<p>National Canadian Film Day will be celebrated in Surrey with a free screening of The Queen of My Dreams, Fawzia Mirza\u2019s acclaimed feature film.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets can be reserved on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.com\/e\/canadian-film-day-isaff-presents-the-queen-of-my-dreams-free-screening-tickets-1986947962844\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">eventbrite.com<\/a> for Wednesday, April 15 at Landmark Cinemas in Guildford, 7 p.m. start.<\/p>\n<p>The event is a partnership of Surrey-based International South Asian Film Festival (iSAFF) and Reel Canada\u2019s National Canadian Film Day, an annual nationwide showcase of homegrown cinema.<\/p>\n<p>The Queen of My Dreams is a Bollywood-inspired dramedy that follows Azra, a queer Pakistani-Canadian woman who travels to Karachi after her father\u2019s sudden death, triggering a journey through memory and identity spanning 1969 Karachi and 1989 Nova Scotia.<\/p>\n<p>Starring Amrit Kaur, Nimra Bucha and Hamza Haq, the film earned five Canadian Screen Award nominations and was named one of Canada\u2019s Top 10 films by TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival). <\/p>\n<p>See the film trailer below.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPartnering with National Canadian Film Day is a natural extension of everything iSAFF stands for,\u201d says Mannu Sandhu, festival producer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Queen of My Dreams is exactly the kind of story we exist to celebrate \u2014 bold, cross-cultural and deeply human.
