Colts’ Anthony Richardson predicted to end up as a QB in Canada’s CFL<\/a> originally appeared on The Sporting News<\/a><\/p>\n

Anthony Richardson hasn’t had the start to his NFL career anyone would’ve wanted.<\/p>\n

He was the No. 4 overall pick for the Indianapolis Colts out of Florida in 2023. But injuries and ineffectiveness have made his story an unhappy one so far.<\/p>\n

One of his lowest marks: a 47% completion percentage in 2024, an abhorrent number that no one comes close to in this modern era of NFL passing.<\/p>\n

Richardson is entering his third season and in an open QB competition in Indy. Daniel Jones was brought in as a veteran free agent to battle for the Colts’ starting quarterback role.<\/p>\n

Amid all this, one outspoken Fox Sports analyst, Jason McIntyre, has made a pretty bold prediction.<\/p>\n

“You better get your Canadian passport because you’re gonna be playing in the CFL pretty soon. That’s the negative side of Anthony Richardson,” McIntyre said on Aug. 8<\/a>.<\/p>\n

On the one hand, this is a wild take.<\/p>\n

Top-five pick quarterbacks stick around a long time, even if they’re perceived as busts. Richardson will still have a lot of talent, even if he doesn’t win the starting job this year.<\/p>\n

Maybe he has to journey around as a backup like former No. 2 overall pick Zach Wilson is now.<\/p>\n

But to drop all the way out of the NFL and to the CFL? That’d be unexpected.<\/p>\n

It does emphasize how disappointing Richardson has been, though. The Colts would’ve never wanted such a proclamation made after two seasons of Richardson’s career. They hoped they were drafting a future star, one that would finally put Andrew Luck’s shock retirement in the rearview mirror.<\/p>\n

But so far, it hasn’t been great. And Richardson will have to hope he can turn it around and stay in the NFL for the long haul.<\/p>\n
