HARRISONBURG, Va. \u2013 James Madison was unable to complete the comeback in singles play, as William & Mary held off the Dukes, 4-2, in men’s tennis action on Saturday afternoon at the Mackesy Tennis Center.

\nThe Tribe (9-12) earned the doubles point and won three singles matches, including the decisive court in a third-set tiebreak. For the Dukes (12-7), they saw their four-match win streak end after picking up singles victories from Esteve Agusti<\/a> and Ryan Morgan<\/a>.

\nW&M took the early 1-0 lead with doubles wins on courts three and one. The Tribe claimed a 6-3 victory on court three, followed by a 6-4 win on court one for the doubles point.

\nIn singles play, W&M doubled the lead to 2-0 on court three, as Nikita Bortnichek downed Francisco Sinopoli<\/a> by scores of 6-1, 6-2.

\nJMU got on the board on court one, as Agusti cruised past Gur Trakhtenberg, at 6-3, 6-3. The Tribe upped the lead to 3-1 shortly after on court two, where Oliver Hague earned a 7-5, 6-1 win over Aurelien Schmitt<\/a>.

\nThe Dukes stayed in it on court four, as Morgan fended off Austin Cohen, 6-4, 6-4, bringing JMU within 3-2.

\nThe final two courts would push to third sets, as Gur Libal<\/a> led 4-3 in the final frame, however W&M took court five in a tiebreak to clinch. There, Dylan Chou claimed a 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (1) win over Zach Fleishman<\/a>.

\nJMU returns home to host George Mason for Senior Day on Sunday, April 12, as part of a doubleheader with the JMU women. The match is set for an 11 a.m. start at Hillside Courts, and seniors Agusti and Sinopoli will be honored prior to the match at 10:45 a.m.
