\nPhoto: Abbotsford Police<\/p>\nABBOTSFORD Police say that on Friday night, a 22-year-old man from Surrey, holding a Class 7 N driver\u2019s licence, was observed travelling at 144 km\/h in a posted 50 km\/h zone along Marshall Road near Queen Street.<\/p>\n
Abbotsford Police said the man was apparently testing \u201cour roadways like a racetrack.\u201d A patrol officer spotted the excessive speed and conducted a traffic stop, \u201cquickly bringing the unofficial race to an end.\u201d<\/p>\n
The driver was issued an excessive speeding ticket, and his vehicle was impounded for seven days. He also had to make alternative plans for getting back to Surrey.<\/p>\n
So far this year, police officers have removed 87 excessive speeders from Abbotsford roadways.<\/p>\n
