PISCATAWAY, N.J. \u2013 The University of Pennsylvania women’s golf team had a solid first day at the Rutgers Invitational, with freshman Mi Li<\/a> atop the individual leaderboard and the Quakers second behind only the host Scarlet Knights out of 16 teams. #FightOnPenn<\/p>\n \u00a0

\nPenn shot 303 in Saturday’s first round, then carded a 298 which was the best team score in the afternoon’s second round. As a result, the Quakers are at 33-over-par 601 heading into Sunday’s final round, just three strokes behind Rutgers (294-304\u2014598, +30). Dartmouth is third, nine strokes behind Penn.

\nLi shot 76 Saturday morning and then carded the only under-par round by any individual on the day in the afternoon, a 1-under-par 70. That left her at 4-over-par 146 for the day and atop the 87-player field, one stroke ahead of Seton Hall’s Marta Aguilar and two up on of Rutgers’ Judy Amano. Li also leads the field in par-4 scoring (4.00) and pars (26) and is tied for third in par-3 scoring (3.20).

\nMaggie Ni<\/a> followed up her first-round 77 with a second-round 73 (+2), leaving her at 8-over-par 150 which has her tied for fourth in the field. She is tied for second in par-4 scoring (4.06) and had the only eagle on the day, on the 18th hole during Saturday’s afternoon round.

\nFreshman Adrienne Ahn-Upton<\/a> tied for Penn’s low round in the morning and then shot a 77 in the afternoon, leaving her tied for 12th at 152 (+10). Sophomore Claire Lu<\/a> shot the other 75 on Saturday morning and ended the day at 14-over-par 156. Senior Julie Shin<\/a> scored for the Quakers in the afternoon and ended the day at 161 (+19), while Bridge O’Keefe ended the day at 160 (+18) as an individual in the field.
