Ottawa Police are putting out a warning to residents after coyotes were spotted in Orl\u00e9ans.<\/p>\n
The police force said in a post on social media that it has heard from residents near Lalande Conservation Park about two \u201cbrazen\u201d coyotes. <\/p>\n
\u201cBe cautious when walking with small animals, especially at night time,\u201d police said. \u201cIf a coyote approaches, make noise, stand tall, and back away slowly.\u201d<\/p>\n
Coyote sightings are not uncommon in Ottawa. The National Capital Commission (NCC)<\/a> says coyotes live in all areas from urban Ottawa to rural Gatineau.<\/p>\n The risk with coyotes is low, but the NCC does have tips to keep yourself and your pets safe, such as keeping your dogs on leash and never feeding wildlife.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen it comes to coyotes, the NCC and the City of Ottawa have a common strategy: leave them alone,\u201d the NCC says.<\/p>\n Residents can report a coyote sighting<\/a> on the City of Ottawa website. <\/p>\n We are hearing from residents near the Lalande Conservation Park in Orleans that there are two brazen coyotes.
