\n\tBored with what\u2019s on Netflix? Josh Brolin<\/a> says go see \u201cWeapons<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn a recent interview with Collider<\/a>, Brolin, who stars in Zach Cregger<\/a>\u2018s latest twisty horror, said \u201cWeapons\u201d is the antithesis of \u201cboring\u201d streaming content, bringing the horror genre to \u201cthe edge of absurdity\u201d to create something entirely unique.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cYou\u2019re looking for great filmmakers, and you\u2019re hoping that there\u2019s another new good filmmaker out there,\u201d Brolin said. \u201cRight now, with so much content, you\u2019re just watching things on whatever streaming service you\u2019re on, and you\u2019re just going, \u2018Fuck, why is this so boring, man? Why?\u2019 And just go to the next thing. It\u2019s all the same shit. And then somebody not only takes the horror genre, but then fucks with it and then does something on the edge of absurdity, and it\u2019s sort of humorous, so it\u2019s keeping you off-[balance] enough for him to have an emotional impact.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBrolin said he \u201creally liked\u201d Cregger\u2019s previous film, \u201cBarbarian,\u201d but couldn\u2019t pinpoint why at the time of its release. He explained that he consulted his daughter and his son-in-law for a younger perspective on Cregger\u2019s filmmaking.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cYou talk to that era of people, and, I mean, he\u2019s like a god to them,\u201d he added. \u201cAnd I\u2019m like, okay, so they\u2019re reacting to something that I may not understand. I would rather not understand it and do business with that guy and understand it better later. And I think that \u2018Weapons\u2019 is a much more refined version of something that he had his finger on the pulse of with \u2018Barbarian.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBrolin stars in \u201cWeapons\u201d alongside Julia Garner, Alden Ehrenreich, Cary Christopher, Benedict Wong and Amy Madigan. The film follows a small town enveloped in chaos after 17 children mysteriously go missing on the same night.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn his Variety interview<\/a>, Cregger discussed how he wrote the film to cope with the death of someone close to him and how he used his characters as an outlet for his grief.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s just given me an opportunity to engage with those feelings in a healthy, constructive way,\u201d Cregger said. \u201cRather than going and drinking myself to death, I\u2019m able to write a character that drinks herself into a problem.
