In addition to redesigning the homepage<\/a> of the PS5, it looks like Sony is also plotting some sweeping changes to the PS Store<\/a>.<\/p>\n

An image circulating on social media<\/a> from the system\u2019s beta program shows a new-look layout for the storefront, complete with large Netflix-style tiles and a bunch of different filtering tags.<\/p>\n

You can see from the Starfield<\/a> entry, for example, that the game is labelled as \u2018Open World\u2019, \u2018Story Rich\u2019, and \u2018Cinematic\u2019, among others. People of Note<\/a>, meanwhile, has tags like \u2018Turn-Based Combat\u2019 and \u2018Stylised\u2019.<\/p>\n

Presumably these more specific tags will help with discoverability, as we imagine you may be able to combine them in the search facility to help find exactly what you\u2019re looking for.<\/p>\n

According to the X<\/a> (or Twitter<\/a>) post with the screenshot, trailers will automatically play when you hover over specific tiles, much like on Netflix. Every game also has a short description.<\/p>\n

Sony is testing big changes to the PlayStation Store alongside the new PS5 UI update.<\/p>\n

The store now features larger game cards, trailers, and short descriptions.<\/p>\n

The tiles do look a little large in this screenshot, but it probably makes more sense on screen with the trailers playing. It also looks like this format is used to specifically spotlight new or promoted releases, while smaller, more traditional icons can be glimpsed in the \u2018Browse By Mood or Genre\u2019 ribbon below.<\/p>\n

While we haven\u2019t been able to test out the new format for ourselves, this does strike us as Sony looking for a way to improve discoverability, which definitely isn\u2019t a bad thing.<\/p>\n
