New driver from Surrey caught going nearly three times speed limit in Abbotsford<\/p>\n

A new driver was nabbed going nearly three times the speed limit on an Abbotsford road.<\/p>\n
\u201cLast night, a 22-year-old man from Surrey, holding a Class 7 N driver\u2019s licence, decided to visit Abbotsford \u2014 and apparently test our roadways like a racetrack,\u201d Abbotsford Police Department stated in a social media post on April 11.<\/p>\n
He was caught zipping through a 50 km\/h zone at 144 km\/h along Marshall Road near Queen Street.<\/p>\n
An officer spotted the excessive speed and and pulled the driver over, \u201cquickly bringing the unofficial race to an end.\u201d<\/p>\n
He was handed an excessive speeding ticket, and his BMW was impounded for seven days.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe also had to make alternative plans for getting back to Surrey.\u201d<\/p>\n
So far this year, AbbyPD officers have removed 87 excessive speeders from Abbotsford roadways.<\/p>\n
Last week, on Good Friday (April 3), AbbyPD officers took nine impaired drivers off the roads in one night.<\/p>\n
