Michael Malone has coached a lot of special basketball players.<\/p>\n
North Carolina is marketing him as an expert player developer thanks to that. Malone is UNC’s new men’s basketball head coach, replacing Hubert Davis, and they’re repping his NBA accolades.<\/p>\n

Yes.<\/p>\n Did he develop them all? That might be a stretch.\u00a0<\/p>\n One social media poster<\/a> wrote: “This is one of the funniest posts ever, my favorite inclusion here is CP3. Malone was in New Orleans for exactly 1 season and when he was hired Chris Paul was already a 3 time all star with multiple top 5 MVP finishes.”<\/p>\n Malone may have been a bit more important for LeBron James. He was an assistant coach with the Cleveland Cavaliers from 2005 through 2010.<\/p>\n He was then the Golden State Warriors’ lead assistant coach from 2011 through 2013, so he likely played a solid role for Stephen Curry, too.<\/p>\n Today I learned Danny Green owes his 3-title NBA career to the 20 games he played for the Cavaliers when Mike Malone was an assistant coach. https:\/\/t.co\/UmiV4XkmcV<\/a><\/p>\n \u2014 Conor O’Neill (@ConorONeill_DI) April 12, 2026<\/a> <\/p>\n It’s definitely reputable for Malone to have worked with so many of the game’s all-time great players.<\/p>\n It also is just a little funny to give him too, too much credit for how they turned out.
