A missing boater\u00a0was\u00a0found dead\u00a0on Sunday\u00a0at\u00a0Heart\u00a0Lake Conservation Area in\u00a0Brampton.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Peel Regional Police\u00a0advised\u00a0the public of an\u00a0underwater\u00a0search and recovery\u00a0operation\u00a0on Sunday morning\u00a0in the city\u2019s north end after a\u00a0canoe capsized\u00a0on the lake overnight\u00a0with two people on board.\u00a0<\/p>\n

While a woman in her 30s was\u00a0rescued\u00a0Saturday night\u00a0by fire crews,\u00a0officials\u00a0recovered the body of a man in his 30s\u00a0on Sunday afternoon, Const. Ty Bell said, after deploying their air support unit and marine rescue crews\u00a0for \u201cseveral hours.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Bell said both boaters were not wearing life-jackets at the time and the water temperature was about 5 C, \u201cwhich will make you hypothermic, but not as fast as drowning.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Post-mortem expected on Monday<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ll get more answers\u00a0on the cause of death\u00a0when the coroner does the post-mortem tomorrow,\u201d he told the Toronto Sun, adding that the lake has a peak depth of about 36 feet.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Bell said first responders were called to the conservation area, near Sandalwood Pkwy. E and Hwy. 410, at about 9:30 p.m. on Saturday night. Emergency crews were able to \u201cquickly\u201d locate the female and the canoe.\u00a0<\/p>\n

She was\u00a0hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Bell said the park was closed at the time, but if not for people on the shore, \u201cthis could have been a double fatal.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Regardless,\u00a0Bell\u00a0said police were\u00a0investigating what\u00a0he\u00a0called a\u00a0\u201cdefinitely\u00a0odd\u201d set of circumstances.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t know anybody\u00a0who goes boating at that time of night and at this time of the year,\u201d he said. \u201cThere are definitely a lot of questions that need to be answered\u00a0here.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
