There\u2019s an update regarding the Montreal Canadiens\u2019 third goal tonight against the New York Islanders.<\/p>\n

The NHL has made a very interesting change to the official scoresheet.<\/p>\n

It directly involves defenseman David Reinbacher.<\/p>\n

The young player is playing his very first NHL game tonight, and on the Canadiens\u2019 third goal\u2014scored by forward Alex Newhook\u2014an assist had initially been awarded to Arber Xhekaj.<\/p>\n

“David Reinbacher should get his first point in the NHL on Alex Newhook’s 3-0 goal.<\/p>\n

Currently lists Arber Xhekaj, but he was the fourth man on the play.”<\/p>\n

D\u2019Amico was ultimately right!<\/p>\n

Arber Xhekaj loses a point on his stat line, as the league quickly corrected things a few minutes later to confirm the first career point for David Reinbacher.<\/p>\n

“This is now confirmed, an assist was added to Reinbacher on the goal.”<\/p>\n

So initially, no assist had been awarded on the goal. Then, the NHL gave one to Arber Xhekaj, before ultimately correcting it a second time.<\/p>\n

This officially marks David Reinbacher\u2019s first point in a Montreal Canadiens uniform!<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a pretty magical moment for the defenseman.<\/p>\n

Getting a point in his first game certainly takes a lot of pressure off.<\/p>\n

Martin St-Louis must be very pleased with what he\u2019s seen from his player so far.<\/p>\n

Making an impact this quickly in an important matchup requires a lot of character, so credit to David Reinbacher!<\/p>\n

Fans have been eagerly waiting for this moment since David Reinbacher was selected in the draft.<\/p>\n

The Canadiens ultimately sealed a 4\u20131 victory, officially eliminating the Islanders from playoff contention in the process.<\/p>\n
