The raffle organisers\u2019 online sales platform says the number of tickets will be capped at 120,000, meaning the draw could net \u20ac12m if they are all sold.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">From the proceeds, \u20ac1m will be paid to the Opera Gallery, an international art dealership that owns the painting. The raffle will benefit the Alzheimer\u2019s Research Foundation, based in one of Paris\u2019s leading public hospitals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Organisers say two previous Picasso raffles raised more than \u20ac10m for cultural work in Lebanon and water and hygiene programmes in Africa.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">In the inaugural \u201c1 Picasso for \u20ac100\u201d raffle, in 2013, a fire-sprinkler worker in Pennsylvania won Man in the Opera Hat, which the Spanish master painted in 1914 during his cubist period.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">A second Picasso, the oil-on-canvas Nature Morte, was raffled off in 2020 and went to an accountant in Italy whose son had bought her the ticket as a Christmas present.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">That still life, painted in 1921, was bought for the raffle from the billionaire art collector David Nahmad, who argued in an interview that Picasso would have approved of raffling his work. Picasso died in 1973.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cPicasso was very generous.
