Former Saskatchewan Roughriders receiver Ajou Ajou played his first preseason game in the NFL with the Indianapolis Colts against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a dream come true,\u201d Ajou told\u00a0the SportsCage<\/a>. \u201cIt was awesome to get out there involved with the guys. It was a surreal moment for sure. \u201c<\/p>\n The six-foot-three,\u00a0218-pound pass catcher\u00a0finished with three receptions for 18 yards in a 24-16 loss at M&T Bank Stadium.<\/p>\n \u201cThe coaches want to see everybody play and everybody\u2019s reaction,\u201d Ajou\u00a0said. \u201cCoach\u00a0said young guys\u00a0be ready and\u00a0that\u2019s all I was doing,\u00a0staying ready. That\u00a0fourth quarter came and threw us in there.\u201d<\/p>\n Ajou spent his collegiate career at Clemson University from 2020 to 2021 and then transferred\u00a0to the University of South Florida in 2022. He played for\u00a0Garden City Community College in 2023.<\/p>\n Luckily for Ajou, there was one person he knew\u00a0at\u00a0Colts\u00a0training camp.<\/p>\n \u201cThe kicker Spencer Shrader, I went to the University of South Florida with him. It was awesome to reconnect with him,\u201d Ajou said. \u201cIt\u2019s\u00a0really cool because he\u2019s\u00a0one of my best friends on the team. He\u2019s\u00a0giving me motivation,\u00a0telling me to stay in it. He\u2019s a very Godly man.\u201d<\/p>\n Ajou\u00a0did not find it hard to settle into the NFL style versus what he had become used to\u00a0in the CFL.<\/p>\n \u201cTo be honest, it\u2019s\u00a0a little quicker game out here, not much of an adjustment,\u201d Ajou said. \u201cPlaying faster off the line, getting a guy right in your face playing press coverage and whatnot but other than that though, it\u2019s football for me.\u201d<\/p>\n Ajou\u00a0spent one season in the CFL<\/a> with the Riders\u00a0last year.\u00a0He suited up in\u00a012 games for the Green and White, registering 20 receptions for 307 yards and two touchdowns. In 2025, Saskatchewan\u00a0has\u00a0the best record in the CFL at\u00a07-1 and are currently first place in the West Division.<\/p>\n \u201cI am so proud of them.\u00a0It\u2019s always been that next man mentality in that [receiver] room.\u00a0There are a lot of guys in there that can make plays and it\u2019s\u00a0nice to see it happening,\u201d Ajou explained.<\/p>\n \u201cMy dog KeeSean [Johnson], that was my roommate. My boy Dhel [Duncan-Busby] over there, Dohnte [Meyers], Tommy [Nield], I\u00a0just met Tom, he\u2019s a good guy. Big Mitch [Picton], Mr. Reliable. Shout out to Samuel [Emilus]. Shout out to Drae McCray, I met him too. Shawn Bane Jr., Bane\u2019s\u00a0World stopped playing. Like all my guys,\u00a0they\u2019re rooting for me. They all text me and whatnot.\u00a0One game at a time, telling the boys to keep going.\u201d<\/p>\n Saskatchewan is enjoying a bye week and returns to the field on Saturday,\u00a0August 16 at Mosaic Stadium against\u00a0the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
