Aubrey Plaza is ready to step into her new role as a mom.<\/p>\n
The \u201cParks and Recreation\u201d alum \u2014 who is expecting her first child<\/a> with boyfriend Christopher Abbott<\/a> \u2014 broke the pregnancy news to Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes and Will Arnett on a forthcoming episode of their \u201cSmartless\u201d podcast<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cWell, there\u2019s a baby inside of me,\u201d she told the men, who all responded in disbelief. \u201cNo, I said there is a baby inside of me right now.\u201d<\/p>\n Aubrey Plaza (pictured showing off her bump for the first time last week) talked about her \u201cexciting\u201d pregnancy for the first time. BrosNYC \/ BACKGRID<\/p>\n Plaza, who previously hid her bump during a 2026 fashion week appearance (seen above), told Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes and Will Arnett on a forthcoming episode of their \u201cSmartless\u201d podcast: \u201cWell, there\u2019s a baby inside of me.\u201d Getty Images<\/p>\n After the actors told Plaza they were so \u201cexcited\u201d for her, the 41-year-old revealed she went to the doctor for an ultrasound that day.<\/p>\n \u201cToday was a big day. I went to the doctor\u2019s today, and my dog also went to the doctor\u2019s. And both of us \u2014 my dog\u2019s getting a scan right now. I got a scan earlier. I\u2019m not kidding,\u201d she shared.<\/p>\n \u201cShe had to get an ultrasound on her stomach. And then I got an ultrasound on my stomach, and there is a baby in there,\u201d Plaza reiterated.<\/p>\n The \u201cWhite Lotus\u201d alum (seen above at the Lacoste Womenswear Fall\/Winter 2026-2027 show) said she \u201calways wanted to see what that\u2019s all about.\u201d WireImage<\/p>\n Last week, news surfaced that Plaza was pregnant and expecting her first child with Abbott (seen above with the actress). Yeah. I\u2019ve always wanted, I\u2019ve always wanted, I\u2019ve always wanted to see what that\u2019s all about, you know?<\/p>\n \u201cIt just seems so interesting, that whole thing,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n Last week, news surfaced that Plaza was pregnant and expecting her first child with Abbott \u2014 more than one year after her husband, Jeff Baena, died by suicide<\/a> in January 2025.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was a beautiful surprise after an emotional year,\u201d a source told People. \u201cThey feel very blessed.\u201d<\/p>\n A source told People Plaza and Abbott (seen together above) are \u201cvery blessed.\u201d Getty Images<\/p>\n The pregnancy news came more than a year after Plaza\u2019s husband, Jeff Baena (seen above with the actress in 2017), died by suicide. George Pimentel<\/p>\n It\u2019s unclear when Plaza and Abbott began dating \u2014 but the couple has worked together multiple times, including in the 2020 movie \u201cBlack Bear\u201d and in the 2023 to 2024 off-Broadway revival of\u00a0\u201cDanny and the Deep Blue Sea.\u201d<\/p>\n Though the \u201cWhite Lotus\u201d actress hid her baby bump while attending\u00a0Paris Fashion Week<\/a>\u00a0last month, she had her belly on full display while walking her dog<\/a> in New York City last Wednesday. <\/p>\n Plaza dressed casually for the outing, wearing a blue coat, a burgundy shirt, gray sweatpants, sneakers and a pair of black sunglasses.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Aubrey Plaza is ready to step into her new role as a mom.
