Ebikes continue to shape how grub and snacks get delivered all across the city. So, a group of Toronto<br \/>cycling advocates are hosting a series of free safe riding sessions aimed at delivery workers.<\/p>\n<p>Workshop over three days<\/p>\n<p>It runs April 13\u201315 at Trinity St. Paul\u2019s Church. The sessions are organized by David Shellnutt, a.k.a. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thebikinglawyer.ca\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Biking Lawyer LLP<\/a>, Toronto Bike Brigade, Rovelo Creative and Cycle Toronto.<\/p>\n<p>Each workshop is designed specifically for <a href=\"https:\/\/cyclingmagazine.ca\/sections\/news\/concerns-rise-over-food-delivery-ebikes-clogging-ontario-transit-cycling-advocates-push-for-change\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">app-based riders<\/a> who are navigating busy streets on tight timelines.<\/p>\n<p>The sessions will cover the basics. That means not just the rules of the road and riding etiquette, but also it will also dig into more complex, real-world scenarios.<\/p>\n<p>Riders will get guidance on what to do in the event of a crash or collision, as well as how to handle police stops and ticketing while working.<\/p>\n<p>Plus, bonus: if you show up, there\u2019s also some swag. When you complete a session you\u2019ll get a complimentary delivery bag.<\/p>\n<p>Organizers say the goal is to offer a more constructive approach to safety. One that prioritizes education and support over enforcement, while recognizing the essential role delivery riders play in keeping the city moving.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery delivery rider on a bike, ebike, cargo-bike, or scooter is one less car on the road,\u201d Michael Longfield, executive director of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cycleto.ca\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cycle Toronto<\/a>, said. \u201cTheir work not only benefits restaurants and local businesses, but also reduces traffic congestion to keep Toronto moving. Ensuring riders have the skills and education to perform their work, including rules of the road and lithium-ion battery care, is essential to keeping them, and everyone around them, safe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Deets:<\/p>\n<p>When: April 13, 14, and 15 from 2:30 to 4pm<\/p>\n<p>Where: Trinity St. Paul\u2019s Church (427 Bloor St. W.)
