The Dustin Pratt Memorial Golf Tournament is set to celebrate a major milestone this year, as the event returns for its 10th year of bringing the community together in support of a meaningful cause.<\/p>\n
Roxane Pratt, Dustin\u2019s mother, shared what makes the annual tournament so special and why it continues to have such a strong impact.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s more than just a golf tournament,\u201d said Pratt. \u201cIt\u2019s a day where the community comes together to celebrate Dustin\u2019s life and support a great cause. You see friends, family, and even people who\u2019ve never met Dustin all coming together to give back.\u201d<\/p>\n
Over the years, the tournament has grown into a highly anticipated event, known for its welcoming and fun atmosphere.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s just a really fun, easygoing day. The tournament\u2019s pretty relaxed, lots of laughs, a bit of friendly competition and you\u2019ll definitely see a lot of plaid and camo.\u201d<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s event will also feature some exciting additions, including a $10,000 hole-in-one prize and food and drink stations set up along the course. The day wraps up with a cabaret in the evening.<\/p>\n
\u201cSad Dads from Estevan bring a ton of energy with 2000s music, so it should turn into a pretty great party,\u201d Pratt added.<\/p>\n
While the golf tournament remains the fund\u2019s biggest fundraiser, it also helps support another important initiative the Dustin Pratt Memorial Fund scholarship.<\/p>\n
Now in its second year, the scholarship is aimed at supporting students pursuing careers in the trades, while recognizing those who reflect Dustin\u2019s character.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re really looking for students who reflect who Dustin was kind, genuine, and someone who makes a positive impact on others,\u201d said Pratt. \u201cIt\u2019s not just about grades, but character, community involvement, and being someone people can count on.\u201d<\/p>\n
Although still in its early stages, the scholarship is already helping local students move forward.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is only our second year, we\u2019ve awarded two so far,\u201d she explained. \u201cBoth recipients are pursuing careers in the trades, which is exactly what we hoped for. It\u2019s about helping remove some of the financial barriers and giving them that extra push.\u201d<\/p>\n
Beyond attending the tournament, Pratt says there are other simple but important ways the community can support the fund.<\/p>\n
\u201cEven just spreading the word for us, following our social media, sharing our posts that brings awareness,\u201d she said. \u201cIt shows people what kind of impact we\u2019ve had.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Dustin Pratt Memorial Fund was created as a way to honour Dustin\u2019s memory and turn loss into something positive for the community.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt really came from wanting to honour Dustin and keep his memory alive in a positive way,\u201d said Pratt. \u201cToday, it means everything. It\u2019s a way for us and the whole community to stay connected to him while making a real impact.\u201d<\/p>\n
