The Ministry of Natural Resources\u00a0(MNR)\u00a0has issued a Flood Watch for\u00a0Bracebridge-Minden-Parry Sound District\u00a0for\u00a0the\u00a0Muskoka River Watershed. The Flood Watch is in effect until\u00a0Friday, April\u00a017, 2026.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Runoff into local lakes and rivers is\u00a0anticipated\u00a0to increase with forecasted rainfall and warmer temperatures, resulting in elevated lake water levels and river flows.<\/p>\n
Higher-than-normal water flow conditions are occurring throughout the area due to recent\u00a0rainfall and snowmelt. Slippery stream banks and fast-flowing,\u00a0cold water\u00a0will create\u00a0hazardous conditions around all water bodies. Residents are reminded to keep a close\u00a0watch on weather conditions, regularly check for updated messages, exercise caution near\u00a0fast-moving rivers and\u00a0streams\u00a0and\u00a0maintain\u00a0close supervision of children and pets.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Residents who have been affected by high water and flow conditions in the past should continue to take necessary action to protect\/secure any vulnerable property in proximity to rivers and lakes and closely monitor developing conditions.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Lower-lying portions of known flood-prone areas may be\u00a0impacted\u00a0to various degrees as\u00a0runoff\u00a0from rainfall and melting snow enters watercourses.\u00a0<\/p>\n
