Voters went back to the polls for a byelection<\/a> in the federal riding of Terrebonne<\/a> on Monday, just under a year after one of the closest and most disputed election results<\/a> in Canadian history.<\/p>\n

There were 175 polls that had reported results so far as of 11:10 p.m. Eastern.<\/p>\n

Elections Canada warned earlier Monday evening that results for Terrebonne \u201cmay take longer to come in, as the higher than usual number of candidates may slow down the ballot counting process.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cResults will be available tonight or early tomorrow. Thank you for your patience,\u201d it said in a social media post.<\/p>\n

In last year\u2019s general election, Terrebonne was called for Liberal Tatiana Auguste by just one vote, flipping the riding from incumbent Bloc Qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois MP Nathalie Sinclair-Desgagn\u00e9.<\/p>\n

The Supreme Court of Canada nullified the result earlier this year after a challenge from the Bloc over a ballot processing error, which the party said would have resulted in a tie.<\/p>\n

Auguste and Sinclair-Desgagn\u00e9 are facing off again in a rematch that is expected to be close once more.<\/p>\n

Conservative candidate Adrienne Charles, New Democrat candidate Maxime Beaudoin and Green Party candidate Benjamin Rankin are also all seeking the riding for a second time.<\/p>\n

Nearly four dozen other candidates are also on the ballot, thanks to a campaign by the Longest Ballot Committee that is pushing for electoral reform.<\/p>\n
