{"id":60281,"date":"2025-08-11T00:35:12","date_gmt":"2025-08-11T00:35:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/60281\/"},"modified":"2025-08-11T00:35:12","modified_gmt":"2025-08-11T00:35:12","slug":"he-was-already-living-in-a-van","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/60281\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018He Was Already Living in a Van\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">HBO comedian Bill Maher has MAGA Superman actor Dean Cain for signing up to be an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Cain\u2014known as the star of 1990s TV hit Lois &amp; Clark: The New Adventures of Superman\u2014announced he was joining ICE this week after appearing in a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) <a onclick=\"_sendArticleBodyInlineLinkClickAnalytics(&#039;https:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/ice-barbie-kristi-noem-gets-magas-favorite-superman-dean-cain-as-a-sidekick\/&#039;)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/ice-barbie-kristi-noem-gets-magas-favorite-superman-dean-cain-as-a-sidekick\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/ice-barbie-kristi-noem-gets-magas-favorite-superman-dean-cain-as-a-sidekick\/\">recruitment video<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Maher said on Real Time With Bill Maher Friday that Cain, 59, joined ICE \u201cnot because he\u2019s MAGA. He just needs the money.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cI think he joined because he heard that lots of migrants were coming into this country, and a lot of them were bad actors,\u201d Maher added. \u201cHe said, \u2018Room for one more?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Bill Maher on 'Real Time With Bill Maher'.\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/BEWDZBJMARHHZJUOCXMX6DVCHI.png\"  width=\"800\" height=\"450\"\/>Bill Maher tore into &#8220;Superman&#8221; actor Dean Cain for signing up to be an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent.  HBO <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Under pressure from the White House to arrest 3,000 undocumented immigrants per day, DHS has stepped up its recruitment efforts. ICE now accepts applicants without a college degree and has done away with its upper age limit (39) and lower age limit (21), which allows teenagers to join. New ICE officers will also receive a signing bonus of $50,000.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cYou could put a porch on your house for that,\u201d Maher quipped, noting that, given Trump\u2019s anti-immigrant purge, one might struggle \u201cto find anyone who would build it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Dean Cain attended the Conservative Political Action Conference in Maryland earlier this year and has not been quiet about his conservative beliefs.\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/1754872512_257_PX2F42NEYJGEPIWUG6FOP42UCQ.jpg\"  width=\"800\" height=\"533\"\/>Dean Cain appeared in an ICE recruitment video released this week.
