Once you understand what it offers, it\u2019s hard to disagree.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"12\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">From joint-friendly conditioning to serious full-body output, here\u2019s why McBride \u2013 and his clients \u2013 keep coming back to the sled.<\/p>\n<p>Joint-Friendly Rehab and Prehab<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"18\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">\u2018Because it\u2019s controlled and low impact, backward sled drags = amazing for knees,\u2019 says McBride.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"23\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Unlike <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/fitness\/cardio-exercise\/a70880531\/5-6-7-running-method-faster-5k\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/fitness\/cardio-exercise\/a70880531\/5-6-7-running-method-faster-5k\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"running\" data-node-id=\"23.1\" class=\"body-link css-10fnnmt emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">running<\/a> or  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/workouts\/a61468865\/dumbbell-lunge-workout\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/workouts\/a61468865\/dumbbell-lunge-workout\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"jumping\" data-node-id=\"23.3\" class=\"body-link css-10fnnmt emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">jumping<\/a>, sled work removes the eccentric (lowering) phase \u2013 the part of movement that typically causes the most muscle damage and joint stress. That means you can push intensity while keeping things joint-friendly.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"27\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">\u2018No harsh joint loading, easy to scale,\u2019 McBride adds.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"32\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">He&#8217;s has seen the benefits across a wide range of clients: \u2018I\u2019ve seen so much success with clients coming back from ACL surgery, arthritis and meniscus tears.\u2019<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"36\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Over time, that consistency adds up. \u2018Across 10+ years of personal training, the sled has played a key role in reducing pain, restoring mobility and helping clients return from injury faster.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Brutal Conditioning \u2013 No Running Required<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"41\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">\u2018If someone hates running\u2026 sleds are your answer,\u2019 says McBride.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"45\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Sled pushes and drags deliver a serious conditioning hit \u2013 without the impact of pounding the pavement.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"49\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">\u2018They spike heart rate fast, build anaerobic fitness, improve work capacity,\u2019 he adds.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"53\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Because you\u2019re working in short, intense efforts with brief recovery, sled training naturally lends itself to interval work.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"57\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">\u2018Short bursts \u2013 perfect for busy people.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>True Full-Body Training<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"62\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Sled work might look like a  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/workouts\/a29208586\/best-leg-exercises\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/workouts\/a29208586\/best-leg-exercises\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"leg exercise\" data-node-id=\"62.1\" class=\"body-link css-10fnnmt emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">leg exercise<\/a>, but it\u2019s anything but.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"66\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">\u2018Sled work isn\u2019t \u201cjust legs\u201d,\u2019 as McBride explains.
