\n\tFour years after Spider-Man: No Way Home became the biggest film in Sony<\/a> history, Tom Holland<\/a>\u2018s webslinger was back as part of the studio\u2019s CinemaCon<\/a> presentation.<\/p>\n

\n\tSony introduced a scene from Spider-Man: Brand New Day<\/a>, directed by Wonder Man co-creator Destin Daniel Cretton, who previously directed Marvel<\/a>\u2018s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.<\/p>\n

\n\tSony head Tom Rothman first showed off two upcoming posters for the movie, noting it\u2019s \u201cfeels like nothing we\u2019ve ever made\u201d despite the many past stories around the superhero. He also called it Holland\u2019s \u201cfinest performance,\u201d before Holland appeared virtually to declare the movie is \u201cthe most emotional Spider-Man movie we\u2019ve ever made, and in some ways, the most grown up.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe introduced the clip, which shows Peter Parker living in the post-No Way Home world where his closest friends no longer know who he is. Peter is grabbing a bite at a bodega when Jacob Batalon\u2019s Ned walks in to grab alcohol, and as expected, doesn\u2019t recognize his longtime friend. Peter decides to follow him home and crash a house party that Ned and MJ (Zendaya) are throwing.<\/p>\n

\n\tPeter discovers that Ned has a wall of Spider-Man photos and news clippings in his room and has created \u201cSpider-Tracker,\u201d which monitors the hero\u2019s whereabouts \u2014 and claims he\u2019s narrowed Spider-Man\u2019s identity down to two prime subjects (which spoiler alert, aren\u2019t Peter). MJ then appears, as Peter gives her the flowers he brought asa host gift \u2014 and in a nervous moment introduces himself as \u201cMaynard.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMJ tells Ned she got a job but turned down, not wanting to work at a \u201csoulless corporation,\u201d with a plan to \u201cwait for something great.\u201d MJ is also dating someone else, and as she leans in to kiss him, Peter emotionally flees the scene. <\/p>\n

\n\tBrand New Day is crucial to Sony\u2019s slate and is expected to be one of the top films of the summer. Its trailer recently set an all-time 24<\/a>\u2013<\/a>hour record with 718 million views<\/a>, while the previous installment topped nearly $2 billion at the box office, a remarkable sum given that the pandemic was still a concern.<\/p>\n

\n\tBrand New Day also stars Jon Bernthal as The Punisher, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner and Sadie Sink in a mystery role. It picks up on the ending of No Way Home, in which the world was forced to forget Peter Parker, including his closest friends, in order to prevent the destruction of his world. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe film is made in conjunction with Disney\u2019s Marvel Studios, and has a script from No Way Home writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers.<\/p>\n

\n\tBrand New Day arrives on July 31.<\/p>\n
