Superheroes, anime characters, and movie stars are gearing up to take over the Toronto Metro Convention Centre for this year\u2019s FAN EXPO, and organizers say it\u2019s one you don\u2019t want to miss.<\/p>\n
The annual convention will bring together sci-fi, horror, gamers, cosplayers, comic book fans and more to celebrate their respective genres and fandoms for four entire days from Aug. 21-24.\u00a0<\/p>\n
FAN EXPO is one of the biggest comic cons in North America, drawing in more than 100,000 people across the weekend.<\/p>\n
\u201c\u200b\u200bWe\u2019re thrilled about the show that we\u2019re presenting this year,\u201d VP of FAN EXPO Andrew Moyes said in an interview with Now Toronto. \u201cWe have some amazing big brands, they\u2019re going to be creating activations for the fans to walk through and experience so many things that we\u2019ve been preparing.\u201d<\/p>\n
One of the highlights Moyes says fans can look forward to is a star-studded guest list that includes Back To The Future stars Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd, \u201cSmallville\u2019s\u201d Tom Welling, and \u201cStar Trek\u2019s\u201d William Shatner, among many others.<\/p>\n
Fox and Lloyd\u2019s appearance comes as \u201cBack To The Future\u201d celebrates its 40th anniversary, one fans will be able to take part in at this year\u2019s event.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cMichael J. Fox [is] a Canadian icon, global icon\u2026 to have him taking the stage with Christopher Lloyd as part of that special event is really exciting,\u201d Moyes says.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Moyes adds that Fox is only doing four appearances this year, and is excited that he chose to make Toronto one of his stops.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI love the fact that we have the best of the best from all the different genres, because that\u2019s really what FAN EXPO is about. It\u2019s not just comics, it\u2019s not just horror, it\u2019s not just anime,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
On top of meet and greets and autograph signings, fans will have the opportunity to enjoy panels, workshops, photo ops, fan meetups, and even video game tournaments.\u00a0<\/p>\n
But of course it wouldn\u2019t be FAN EXPO without the creative costumes and cosplay that fans dress up in for the weekend as they channel their favourite characters and stars.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve seen this explosion of cosplay. It\u2019s a genre within itself. So, that\u2019s one way people celebrate\u2026I think it\u2019s very important to us to create that inclusive welcoming platform,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
