\n\tEXCLUSIVE: BBC<\/a> employees are expected to be updated on the British broadcaster\u2019s plans to save an additional \u00a3500M ($675M) over the coming years.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn an internal email, the BBC told members of staff to join a town hall meeting on Wednesday, when they will be updated on \u201csavings plans.\u201d Employees were informed that \u201ceveryone should attend.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe meeting will be led by Rhodri Talfan Davies, the BBC\u2019s interim director general; CFO B\u00e9rang\u00e8re Michel; and John Curbishley, the corporation\u2019s chief strategy and transformation officer.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe savings briefing comes after the BBC announced in February that it planned to\u00a0slash its cost base by \u00a3500M<\/a>\u00a0over the next three years, exapanding on an existing target worth \u00a31.5B.<\/p>\n

\n\tOne insider said the meeting sounded \u201cominous,\u201d with employees bracing for news about potential job cuts or a voluntary redundancy scheme.<\/p>\n

\n\tThis person said the BBC was getting some \u201cbad news out of the way\u201d before Matt Brittin<\/a>, the former Google executive, joins as director general on May 18.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe BBC\u2019s annual plan<\/a>, published last month, made clear that the corporation faces \u201cdifficult\u201d financial choices and that content would not be protected from cuts.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe BBC has been drawing up radical plans to save \u00a3100M through outsourcing thousands of non-content jobs \u2014 including HR, finance, legal, and operations \u2014 to private sector companies.\u00a0Deadline revealed details of the changes last year<\/a>, with executives dubbing the plan Project Ada.<\/p>\n

\n\tA BBC spokesperson: \u201cOver the last three years we have delivered more than a half a billion pounds worth of\u00a0savings, much of which we\u2019ve been able to reinvest into our output across the BBC.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIn a rapidly changing media market, we continue to face substantial financial pressures. As a result we expect to make further\u00a0savings\u00a0over the next three years of around 10% of our costs.
