Jorge Masvidal won\u2019t be returning to the UFC Octagon any time soon. That\u2019s according to Dana White, who was asked about a \u201cGamebred\u201d return after UFC 327.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have no fights for him right now,\u201d the UFC CEO said at the post-fight press conference.<\/a> \u201cWe have nothing done with him. He\u2019s talking to us.\u201d<\/p>\n That\u2019s a surprise, considering Masvidal recently said he passed up a fight<\/a> on Most Valuable Promotions\u2019 May 16th Rousey vs. Carano<\/a> card because the UFC had fights for him. On the new UFC video podcast Deep Waters, Masvidal discussed the current situation.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re definitely talking,\u201d Masvidal said. \u201cWe\u2019ve been talking for a minute, you know. We just haven\u2019t landed on that thing. You guys know how the UFC is. I love them to death But man, they make you work for every single thing. And it\u2019s always like it\u2019s not quite what you want it to be a lot of times. So we\u2019re working. We\u2019re going to get something done.\u201d<\/p>\n Like a growing number of names in the sport, Jorge Masvidal exists in that space where he cost too much money for UFC to book. Jorge was one of the UFC\u2019s biggest names during the Pandemic Era that introduced MMA to an entire new generation of fans. Despite his losses, \u201cGamebred\u201d is like a Diaz brother in that a lot of fans don\u2019t care about his record. They just want to see him fight.<\/p>\n Masvidal has a limited permission arrangement that allows him to box while still technically being under contract with the UFC. That seemed like a pretty sweet deal until Jorge boxed Nate Diaz and got screwed out of millions<\/a> in purse money by promoter Fanmio. Now the Miami star wants back in the UFC, but the UFC does not seem interested<\/a> in paying him properly or booking him right.<\/p>\n
