YouTube shows ads more aggressively than ever before, and the only official way to get rid of them entirely is by getting a Premium subscription. And if you are in the US, buying a Premium subscription now costs $15.99 a month<\/a> for the Individual plan after the recent price hike in the country.<\/p>\n

However, you don’t always need a Premium subscription to watch videos without ads. While there are unofficial ways to go ad-free on YouTube that Google doesn’t like, the Mountain View tech giant has recently revealed a trick to see fewer ads on YouTube without paying a monthly fee.<\/p>\n

Don’t get too excited, because the trick only applies when certain conditions are met.<\/p>\n

Even if you are not a Premium user, YouTube will now hold back ads when Live chat engagement is at its peak during live streaming. YouTube has announced this in its official blog post<\/a>, though it kept us in the dark about what actually counts as a “peak” engagement (via Dexerto<\/a>).<\/p>\n

This is something that you, as an individual user, don’t have much control over, because engagement spikes collectively. But you can certainly play your part by commenting on the live stream. So, in an entire live-streaming session, you may see fewer ads than before, depending on whether YouTube’s system recognizes a spike in engagement.<\/p>\n

If you watch a lot of popular live streams on YouTube and are on the free tier, this will certainly impact your viewing experience. But for everyone else, buying a Premium subscription is still the best way to remove ads entirely from YouTube.<\/p>\n

Additionally, YouTube also made some major changes to YouTube Live to improve the experience for creators. If you are a creator, you can now earn more money because viewers can now send gifts on your horizontal live streams from their mobile devices. Also, the ability to receive gifts has now been expanded to Canada, Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, Australia, and New Zealand.<\/p>\n

YouTube has also announced that it’ll create what it calls a “personal ad-free window” after a fan shows support with a Super Chat, Super Stickers, or gifts. On top of this, creators can stream both vertical and horizontal at the same time.<\/p>\n

The streaming giant also has more in store for YouTube creators<\/a> in the near future.
