(Photo: City of Mississauga)<\/p>\n<p>The pedestrian bridge at a park in Mississauga\u2019s north end has been closed to the public due to localized flooding of the area late Monday into Tuesday, the city says.<\/p>\n<p>City of Mississauga officials said Tuesday afternoon the flooded footbridge at Derry Greenway Park is temporarily closed \u201cdue to the volume of rain received overnight and throughout the morning.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Access to the park, which is located on Derry Road East just west of Goreway Drive, is currently restricted from both Derry Road East and Victory Crescent, the city added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWater levels are gradually reducing and will continue to be monitored. Please avoid this area and be safe around all waterways,\u201d officials added in a post to social media.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-808676\" class=\"wp-image-808676 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Derry-area-park-flooded-n-closed-in-missy-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"1706\"  \/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-808676\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The pedestrian bridge at Derry Greenway Park was flooded by heavy rain. (Photo: City of Mississauga)<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, people in Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon are being advised by conservation authority officials to stay away from all watercourses for the next couple of days as heavy rain is expected to increase the risk of localized flooding near the Credit River.<\/p>\n<p>Credit Valley Conservation, the organization that protects natural areas and watercourses in Peel\u2019s three municipalities and several other communities, issued a flood outlook statement on Monday night alerting residents to potentially unsafe\/dangerous conditions due to the heavy rainfall.<\/p>\n<p>The statement, which remains in effect until end of day on Thursday or until further notice, noted rain that fell in the region late Monday night into early Tuesday and more expected in the coming days have increased the chances of dangerous conditions near water.<\/p>\n<p>In its statement, CVC said Monday night \u201c10 to 20 mm of rain is forecasted and there is a risk of isolated thunderstorms. Soil in the watershed is saturated and water levels of the Credit River and tributaries are elevated after spring thaw and recent rain events. Localized flooding may occur in flood-prone and low-lying areas. Streams and rivers may become dangerous.
