\n\tWhile waiting for the man she needs, Olivia Dean<\/a> gave the world a song we need.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn a Tuesday (April 13) interview with Hits Radio<\/a>, Dean spoke about what it\u2019s like to be living her dreams, meeting some of her music icons and her upcoming tour. In the conversation with host Marvin Humes, the 2026 Grammys\u2019 Best New Artist also shared that her Billboard Hot 100<\/a> No. 2 hit \u201cMan I Need,\u201d off her album The Art of Loving, was not supposed to be released as a single.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI wasn\u2019t sure about it,\u201d Dean shared about the track\u2019s potential as a single. \u201cI thought it was a little bit different.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDean then said it wasn\u2019t until she and her band began playing \u201cMan I Need\u201d together during rehearsals that she started to feel differently toward the song.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI knew I really liked it. But I didn\u2019t know if it was representative of the whole album and the story,\u201d Dean replied when Humes asks if she thought the song would be a hit upon leaving the studio. \u201cBut I\u2019m glad I followed through with that one.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe singer shared that though \u201cMan I Need\u201d did end up making the cut as a single, there were \u201cloads\u201d of other songs that did not make their way onto The Art of Loving. Fans hoping to hear some of the tracks still in her vault might get to do so one day. \u201cI might still do something with them,\u201d Dean teased.<\/p>\n

\n\tHer plan to release \u201cMan I Need\u201d as a single obviously worked out in the British singer\u2019s favor. With a peak at No. 2 so far, the song has spent 20 weeks and counting in the Hot 100\u2019s top 10. The track is also making history. \u201cMan I Need\u201d topped Billboard\u2019s Adult R&B Airplay, Pop Airplay and Adult Pop Airplay charts, making Dean the first woman<\/a> to top these three lists since Adele did the same with \u201cHello\u201d in 2015-16.<\/p>\n
