(NB: If you claim based on someone else\u2019s work record, the agency uses the other person\u2019s birthday.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Of the just under 71 million Americans who receive Social Security &#8211; whether retirement, disability or survivor benefits &#8211; most are paid on the second, third or fourth Wednesday <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/pubs\/EN-05-10031-2026.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/pubs\/EN-05-10031-2026.pdf\">in each month<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In April 2026, this birthday-dependent payment cycle is:Born on 1st-10th of any month: Wednesday, April 8Born on 11th-20th of any month: Wednesday, April 15Born on 21st-31st of any month: Wednesday, April 22How much money do Social Security beneficiaries get?Retired workers: $2,079.49Disabled workers: $1,634.51Survivor benefits: $1,624.37<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">(Average monthly benefit, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/policy\/docs\/quickfacts\/stat_snapshot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/policy\/docs\/quickfacts\/stat_snapshot\/\">according to SSA figures<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Who isn\u2019t paid on the second, third or fourth Wednesday in April 2026?Certain long-term beneficiaries: April 3<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Social Security beneficiaries who began claiming before May 1997 are paid on the third of each month.<\/p>\n<p>Dual beneficiaries: April 3<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Social Security can be combined with Supplemental Security Income (SSI), a separate program <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/ssi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/ssi\">for certain low-income individuals<\/a>.
