We are just two games away from the official end of the Vancouver Canucks<\/a> season. With the change of trajectory despite the team\u2019s desire to win entering the season, questions surrounding what the future holds for the Canucks\u2019 head coach and front office are at the top of the list of matters to address at season\u2019s end.And it appears all three of Adam Foote<\/a>, Patrik Allvin and Jim Rutherford are uncertain where they stand with the organization to this point.<\/p>\n

The consensus around the situation has been that the President of Hockey Operations, Rutherford, is safe from any change. The same can\u2019t be said about Allvin, who has reportedly been telling others around the hockey world that he does not expect to be back with the Canucks for next season.<\/p>\n

However, according to Sportsnet\u2019s Nick Kypreos<\/a>, it appears neither has been informed by ownership what their future holds for them as of this past weekend:<\/p>\n

\u201cGoing into last weekend, President of Hockey Operations Jim Rutherford and GM Patrik Allvin were still awaiting word from owner Francesco Aquilini on their immediate future, as it appeared Aquilini had yet to give either of them any assurances as he continues to weigh all his options.\u201d<\/p>\n

There has been word that if Allvin\u2019s belief is correct and he isn\u2019t back next season, the Minnesota Wild could be interested in bringing him in in a scouting role. He and current GM Bill Guerin have a previous working relationship dating back to their time in Pittsburgh. Kypreos further confirms that reporting.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re aware of what happens. People are aware of what happens. I mean, that\u2019s something that, you know, I don\u2019t think about that. I think about the now. We\u2019re playing hockey. We have LA tonight. You know, that\u2019s just noise that is not in my control. I control what I do here every day, and that\u2019s how I play. That\u2019s how I was raised. That\u2019s how I come to work. So, that kind of thing just kind of keep it away.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, I\u2019m not going to talk about me or [what I\u2019ve done to prove to stay]. I\u2019ll let you know, the players, the game, the way they play, the way they carry themselves, others talk about that. I\u2019m not going to get into that. Never did as a player. That\u2019s not who I am as a person. I\u2019m not going to try to defend myself to some noise or things that I can\u2019t control.\u201d<\/p>\n

If there is change on the horizon for the Canucks brass, they have a pair of notable candidates waiting in the wings down in Abbotsford: Head Coach Manny Malhotra and General Manager Ryan Johnson. Both were former Vancouver Canucks back in their playing days, and would understand the market and what it desires. However, if the Canucks don\u2019t make a change, they risk losing both of them, as they are expected to draw significant interest from around the league. Donnie & Dhali\u2019s Rick Dhaliwal already reported that the Canucks rejected the Nashville Predators\u2019 request to interview Ryan Johnson for their current vacant GM position.<\/a><\/p>\n

Making the change with a new focus on building for the future would provide new expectations and a change of voice to lead them through a rebuild. This is something this market would likely welcome, considering the voices of current coaches and managers have grown stale for many.<\/p>\n
