Officers were called to the area at about 3:15 p.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Firefighters and paramedics extricated the man and woman from the SUV. They were the only occupants of the vehicle, police say.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The man, who was the driver, was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after he arrived. The woman was airlifted to a trauma centre, where she remains in life-threatening condition.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;We would like to extend our deepest heartfelt condolences to the victim\u2019s family and all those that are impacted by this tragic incident,&#8221; acting Sgt.
