<\/p>\nThe UK’s biggest gym company is taking over a 13,500 sq ft unit that was previously as Poundland store<\/p>\n

PureGym has announced plans to open a new location near Leicester next month.<\/p>\n
The company, which already has two gyms in Leicester plus more in Loughborough<\/a>, Coalville and Market Harborough<\/a>, will take over the former Poundland unit<\/a> in Thurmaston Shopping Centre.<\/p>\n The new gym will open at noon on Friday, May 22, on the main strip of shops including Next, Sports Direct, Boots and Hobbycraft.<\/p>\n The branch, known as “PureGym Leicester Thurmaston”, will offer “round-the-clock, flexible, affordable fitness through its signature low-cost, no-contract memberships” the company said.<\/p>\n The 13,500 sq ft gym will be open to members 24\/7 and have about 100 pieces of equipment, as well as areas for free weights, cardio equipment, fixed resistance and a fitness studio.<\/p>\n The company said members will be able to take advantage of a “huge range of classes”, which are included within the membership price, as well as certified trainers available and a free initial exercise induction.<\/p>\n A spokesperson for PureGym said: \u201cWe are beyond excited to be expanding our presence in Leicester with the opening of PureGym Leicester Thurmaston, providing flexible, high-value fitness facilities to communities across Leicester.<\/p>\n “With demand for affordable, high-quality fitness at an all-time high, the new gym will give members 24\/7 access to top-quality equipment and a wide range of classes.<\/p>\n PureGym will take over the former Poundland unit, between Next and Superdrug(Image: Google)<\/p>\n “We\u2019re excited to be making fitness more accessible for the local community, providing the opportunity to get active, feel stronger, and support overall wellbeing.<\/p>\n “We can\u2019t wait to open our doors at PureGym Leicester Thurmaston\u2013 be sure to make the most on our opening offer.\u201d<\/p>\n PureGym is also offering places on the PureGym Personal Training Academy. The scheme, which people have to pay to join, lasts about 14 weeks and participants are guaranteed a job at the end of it.<\/p>\n PureGym was founded in Leeds in 2009 and now has nearly two million members in eight countries.
