CP24\u2019s Courtney Heels has the latest on a pedestrian in Mississauga being fatally struck by a vehicle near Hurontario St. and Derry Rd. West. <\/p>\n
Police say they are trying to piece together the circumstances surrounding the death of a man who was run over by a vehicle in Mississauga early Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n
According to police, a man in his 40s was lying in the roadway near Derry Road East and Hurontario Street at around 3:45 a.m. when he was run over by a vehicle.<\/p>\n
The man was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene and the driver remained on scene.<\/p>\n
Police said they believe the man may have been struck by another driver that has not yet come forward.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are trying to ascertain what did occur here\u2026 If there was anyone that was in the area, it was dark and rainy, obviously weather may play a factor here, if you believe you may have struck somebody or that you struck something to please contact police,\u201d Const. Laurie McCann told reporters at the scene on Wednesday morning. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe do believe that something did occur prior to him being run over and dragged a short distance.\u201d<\/p>\n
Police are urging anyone who has dash camera video or who witnessed anything in the area prior to the incident to contact investigators.<\/p>\n
