{"id":606314,"date":"2026-04-15T19:06:10","date_gmt":"2026-04-15T19:06:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/606314\/"},"modified":"2026-04-15T19:06:10","modified_gmt":"2026-04-15T19:06:10","slug":"montreal-cyclists-get-chance-to-ride-world-championship-course","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/606314\/","title":{"rendered":"Montreal cyclists get chance to ride world championship course"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Montreal cyclists looking for a chance to feel like a professional \u2013 at least for one day \u2013 should circle Sept. 19 on their calendars.<\/p>\n<p>The Rando V\u00e9lo Beneva will give 6,000 cyclists the opportunity to ride on a fully closed street circuit mirroring the course that will later be used by the world\u2019s top cyclists.<\/p>\n<p>The event is a lead-in to the <a href=\"https:\/\/montreal.citynews.ca\/2026\/04\/14\/montreal-host-2026-uci-road-world-championships\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">UCI Road World Championships<\/a> \u2013 from Sept. 20-27 \u2013 a 13-race international sporting event featuring 1,000 athletes from 80 countries.<\/p>\n<p>Registration is now open to riders of all ages and skill levels.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to create an accessible and unifying event that inspires everyone to get involved \u2013 whether with family, friends, or by taking on a personal challenge,\u201d said S\u00e9bastien Arsenault, president of the main event\u2019s organizing committee. \u201cRiding on the same courses as the world\u2019s elite, in a festive and safe environment, and then taking part in the opening ceremony is truly a unique experience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Joseph-Limare.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-478162\" style=\"width:1027px;height:auto\"  \/>Joseph Limare, the executive director of the Montr\u00e9al 2026 UCI Road World Championships, previews the September event, April 15, 2026. (Matt Tornabene, CityNews)<\/p>\n<p>Four routes will be available: 10 and 20 kilometres (for families and beginner cyclists), 40 kilometres (elite individual time trial course) and 70 kilometres (for those looking to push themselves).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCycling as a family is about creating meaningful memories while staying active. La Rando V\u00e9lo Beneva is the perfect opportunity to share that joy, regardless of age or level.
