Since then, the population has grown despite some intervention efforts from provincial powers to control birth rates.<\/p>\n<p>Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n<p>Colombia is the only country outside Africa with a wild hippo population, which descends entirely from these first four hippos.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\tMore on Trending<br \/>\n\t\t\tMore videos\n\t\t<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0cocaine hippos escaped Escobar\u2019s Hacienda Napoles ranch after the drug lord was killed by national police in 1993.
